STOPTOBER encourages smokers across the UK to quit for 28 days – and hopefully beyond – starting from 1 October.
The 28-day challenge
Research shows that if you stop smoking for 28 days you are 5 times more likely to stop for good*.
By taking part in Stoptober you’ll be joining a mass quit attempt where you’ll get the support of thousands of others across the country, plus help from free support in the form of packs, apps and personalised emails.
With this help, over 65% of people who took part made it to 28 days in Stoptober 2013.
Stopping in Thurrock
Throughout September the red STOP ball will be rolling up to different venues across Thurrock. It will signal that our stop smoking specialists Vitality are on hand to give expert advice on quitting.
You can also pledge your support by signing the ball and posting a selfie on Twitter with the hashtag #thurrockstoppers
Swap fags for gags
Stoptober 2014 is using humour to lighten the 28-day challenge. Some of the country’s top comedians are supporting smokers throughout the month. Look out from them on TV, radio, online and in a nationwide roadshow.
The roadshow will be coming to Intu Lakeside on 28 September. The Stoptober Jugglers will be teaching potential quitters how to juggle providing a welcome distraction to those about to take up the stop smoking challenge.
