EAST Thurrock United host Staines Town in the FA Cup third round qualifying match tomorrow afternoon and will no doubt be looking back to last season’s impressive cup run for motivation.
It was last season that East Thurrock reached the first round proper of the competition where they were beaten 2-0 by Sky Bet League 2 side Hartlepool United.
This will be the second meeting between the two Isthmian Premier Division sides this season – with Staines narrowly beating 10-man East Thurrock 3-2 back in September.
East Thurrock head into the game having beaten Carshalton Athletic 5-0 in the previous round, which was followed by an emphatic 4-0 league win over premier division leaders Leiston. John Coventry will be hoping a positive result in tomorrow’s cup clash can have a similar effect on their league form again ahead of a tough schedule.
A win tomorrow would put The Rocks into the forth and final qualifying round, just touching distance away from that coveted FA Cup first round proper that the fans have been dreaming of.
Staines Town
Staines currently sit 12th in the Isthmian Premier Division. They progressed through the previous round with a 1-0 away win at Stanway Rovers.
