THE formal opening ceremony of Al-Amin Tandoori by Thurrock mayor, cllr Sue Gray was held recently.

The restaurant was formerly called Spice Corner but has had a name change and a re-brand.

Local residents also attended the ceremony and were pleased that this new takeaway is hoping to create a vibrant environment and will serve the local people quality healthy Indian food.

The Mayor commented on the quality of the food stating: “The flavours were amazing and very moreish (I have to say the best we ever I had)”.

Over almost 20 years Al-Amin has built a reputation in Kent for serving excellent Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, wholesome and traditional food in a stylish and comfortable setting.

A spokesperson said: "The business has always been a family-owned and run takeaway. At the start there was something of the pioneer spirit, bringing what was then somewhat unfamiliar and exotic food to inquisitive local people. They quickly came to appreciate the full-flavoured food that excites the senses. Due its success a new branch was opened in Grays.

"The menu features a big selection of delicious dishes including many cooked in the traditional tandoor oven. There is something for everyone (including many vegetarian options) and an abundance of food that’s perfect for sharing. All the dishes are freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. The in-house chef is a ‘master chef’ award winner who cooks all the dishes meticulously".
