Belhus stormed through to the second round of the Shepherd Neame League Cup after an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Ongar at North Stifford on Saturday. Belhus opener Gavin Jefferies led the way with a fine undefeated 59 after an equally impressive bowling display from the home side. The opening attack of Dale Kenyon and Jonathan Gordon yielded 2-16 and 2-25 from six overs respectively as the first four Ongar batsmen all failed to reach double figures.

Belhus were unable to defend their large total in a thoroughly entertaining afternoon's cricket at Abridge on Sunday. Martin Guilbert made the early running for Belhus with a fine 113 and he was supported well by Richard Day with 67 as these two put on 120 for the third wicket. Guilbert struck no fewer than 20 boundaries, while Day hit three sixes and seven fours.
Thurrock’s league season ended with a shattering defeat at Bury on Saturday, it looked like a game too far for the young Thurrock team who were brushed aside for the first 30 minutes of the game, and quickly found themselves 29 points down conceding 4 tries and a penalty without reply. The Hammers Co Promoter Jon Cook explained: "We staged the British Under 21 Final last week and due to a mix up beyond our control kids admission prices rose to £5 rather than our normal £3 and this created understandable ill feeling amongst those attending. Whilst this was not the fault of the Club we feel responsible enough to drop our prices for this meeting to repay those that attended as well as encourage other families to visit for a great double header of action that will see 30 heats of racing."
