Charity Golf

It’s tee-off time as the Thurrock Festival Charity Golf Classic gets underway on Sunday 12 July at Langdon Hills Country and Golf Club, Bulphan.

With £10,000 at stake for a hole in one, as well as a host of other prizes, including a weekend getaway to Portugal in a five star hotel, Thurrock is the place to be for a great day of golfing fun.

The all day event start at 10am and activities include a full English breakfast before the 18-hole competition begins.

Players can also enjoy a free nine-hole practice round and a delicious three-course presentation dinner and charity auction in the evening.

Chair of Thurrock Festival, Cllr Barry Johnson said: “The organising committee has worked hard to ensure that T-Fest 2009 continues to give residents the opportunity to enjoy and explore the borough’s rich history, as well as the wide range of artistic and sporting activities the borough has to offer.

“This year’s festival promises to put Thurrock on national display as a modern and diverse borough.”

Thurrock Council Cabinet member for Community, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Joy Redsell, said: “The Charity Golf day promises to bring the community and local business together through sport, to raise money for the Mayor’s charity, Little Haven Children’s Hospice.

“These activities are so important in as they encourage community spirit, celebrating what we have in common while sharing and learning about our differences.”

Dress code is collared shirts and golf shoes, no jeans allowed, and registration cost £25 per player (in a team of four).
