MP Angela Call To Legion

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, Angela Smith has issued a clarion call to support the work of the Royal British Legion.

People will soon be able to buy poppies to show their support and there are now even more ways that you can support our veterans.

Between now and the 15th November, the Legion, in partnership with Hovis, are attempted to raise £100,000 through the sale of Hovis Seeds Sensations products, the proceeds of which will go to the Poppy Appeal.

Angela said, “I was delighted to meet with representatives of the British Legion at the Labour Party Conference, where they presented me with a copy of their manifesto. I know from meeting servicemen and servicewomen in Basildon and Thurrock the immense importance of the work that the British Legion does; that is why I am delighted to support their manifesto and “do my bit”.

“I would like to urge everyone to do likewise in the run up to Remembrance Day. It is essential that we continue to honour those who fought for our freedoms in the struggle against fascism, and our servicemen who continue to fight to keep us safe and preserve our way of life.”

Angela’s latest Veterans Newsletter includes features on Don Sheppard, who Angela accompanied to visit the Prime Minister for Armed Forces Day, the Elizabeth Cross and the ongoing campaign to encourage the wearing of Veterans lapel badges.

The newsletter is now available and you can request copies by phoning Angela’s House of Commons office on 020 7219 6273.
