Certificate of Achievement Saves Student From Jail.

A GRAY student was saved from jail 48 hours after being awarded a certificate at the Youth Celebration Awards at the Civic Hall.

Grays Youth Court heard that Theo Owusu-Anokye (18) plead guilty to robbing two youths of an i-pod and a mobile phone on the 23rd June, this year.

But a reference by Youth and Connexions worker Lewis Clarke impressed the presiding magistrate Judge David Cooper so much that he escaped jail and was fined £280.

The reference stated that Theo had undertaken several course with the Youth and Connexions Service, had shown great dedication and commitment and was awarded with a certificate for his work in a research project by Head of Children’s Services Jay Mercer.
