Thurrock 15 v 13 Romford

Thurrock under 14’s played the first round of the Essex Cup on Sunday 8th November. Right up to the blow of the last whistle the result could have gone either way. T’s made it hard work for themselves by giving away penalties, which Romford took full advantage off on more than one occasion.

Romfords defence made it hard work for Thurrock, with some good runs put in by Nathan Edwards who was always fell just short of touch.

T’s kept the ball moving and Bari Allai managed to out-manoeuvre Romford putting T’s in the lead. The whole pitch was put to use in this fast moving game and it wasn’t long before Romford equalised.

The second half started just as strong with both sides putting in some good rugby. Thurrock gave away a penalty, which Romford used by taking the kick putting them in the lead. T’s came back fighting and the try was quickly matched with some quick thinking from Sam Harman who off loaded the ball to Charlie Curry who made a lovely pass to Jack Dinnadge, with Romford unable to catch him he touched down giving T’s the lead.

Romford made T’s defence work hard to keep the lead and kept driving the ball forward and it wasn’t long before they penetrated T’s line and touched down for the lead.

T’s knew they had to dig deep with only 6 minutes off play left. With some outstanding tackles from Adam Leary, Sam Reilly and Charlie Curry they weren’t going to be beaten, they won the ball for T’s with some good passing the ball found the hands of Charlie Harris who sprinted to the line, touching down for T’s with just seconds of play left on the clock.
