A MAN has died following a collision between two cars on the A127 near West Horndon this morning, Thursday December 3.
Police were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway between the Halfway House and Dunton turn-offs at about 5.20am.
The eastbound carriageway has been closed and is likely to remain closed for several hours while police carry out their initial investigation.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone who can help should contact Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 0300 333 4444.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving following a fatal crash on the A127 near West Horndon early this morning, Thursday December 3.
Police were called at about 5.20am and found that a car and a taxi had been in collision on the eastbound carriageway, about half a mile beyond junction with the A128.
The car driver, who is believed to be from the Basildon area, was certified dead at the scene.
The eastbound carriageway of the A127 was closed until about 10am while police carried out an initial investigation.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone who can help should contact Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 0300 333 4444.
A 40-year-old man from Basildon was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and is being questioned by road policing officers.
