Detectives in Grays are investigating a nasty, unprovoked assault on a 17 year old girl that has left her with facial injuries and she will require corrective surgery on her teeth. The incident happened in Corringham on March 18 at about 9.40pm and police are appealing for information to identify the group of young men who were responsible.
The girl was walking from Corringham town centre and was assaulted by a group of about five white youths, aged 15-16 years old who headbutted her before knocking her to the ground and kicking her. This happened near garages in Rachel Clark Close and the suspects did not speak or take anything from her. She was taken to hospital in a very distressed state and was treated for her injuries but will require further treatment.
Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area during the evening and may have seen this group of youngsters or has any information on the assault. They are asked to contact detectives at South Ockendon CID on 0300 333 4444 or via crimestoppers.
