TILBURY does seem to be an essential part of an aspiring senior police officer’s cv as they hope to rise up the ranks. What, for some, years ago, may have been seen as some form of poisoned chalice, is now seen as an exciting opportunity to lead on a number of community initiatives and progressive policing strategies.
Insp Jon Burgess is one of the new breed who is part of the policing pledge to bring the police to the community. Just walking into the reception area and you will see a host of contact details for both police officers and PCSO’s. A far cry from distant days.
At the same time, Insp Burgess leaves you in no doubt that where appropriate, good old fashioned “presence” policing will be deployed in order to ensure that the streets are safe for all Tilbury’s residents.
