The Mayor of Thurrock has written to her counterpart in Whitehaven, Cumbria, to express Thurrock’s condolences and sadness at the tragic events there last week.
Cllr Anne Cheale wrote to Cllr Mike McVeigh, on Friday (5 June).
She said: “I am writing on behalf of the Members, Officers, and people of the Borough of Thurrock to express our sincere condolences and sadness at the tragic loss of the victims involved in the atrocity in Whitehaven this week.
“This disaster has shocked and deeply saddened us all and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died in this terrible incident.
“I would also like to extend our best wishes to all the other people who were injured as a result of these events and hope that they will make a good recovery.
“Please would you pass on our best wishes to all of your Community who are suffering at this sad time.”
