Attacker Sought In South Ockendon

Police have issued CCTV images of a man they want to interview in connection with an assault in an alley at Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon.

At 3.30pm on Thursday, May 20, a man approached a 25-year-old woman from behind, while she was pushing a young child in a pushchair. She was grabbed her around the neck before pushing her against a wall.

Investigating officer, Pc Alexander Brooks, said: “This would have been very frightening for the victim, who suffered scratches as a result of the attack. She was with a young child at the time. It is disgusting that anyone would do such a thing, and we really need the public’s help to identify this man.”

The attacker was black or Asian, aged between 50-60 and was about 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing dark clothing with the hood up and had grey stubble on his chin.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at South Ockendon police station on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
