Terry Prachett’s Discworld is back at the Thameside stage with Courts Players latest production “Maskerade” .The call has gone out from two of the City Watchmen for period piece large helmets. They need to be either civil war Roundhead style or Spanish armada sailor style. Can anyone out there assist in kitting out our two very dimwitted City Watchmen Sergeant Detritus and Corporal Nobbs in the photo, played by Martyn Williams and Dave Carey, but what are they involved in?
On Discworld in the opera house in Ankh Morpork it’s murder and it’s not just the singing that’s bad! Someone is killing the staff the singers backstage and some of the audience too if they dare to sit in Box number 8, that’s reserved for the Phantom of the Opera. He’s leaving notes all over the place about who’s to die next and it seems no one can stop him! Except perhaps….Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg the two heroic Lancre Witches who get roped into the intrigue and turn detective to stop the killing and save young singer Agnes Nitt from the clutches of the Phantom, who has her in his thrall with promises of stardom. Sounds familiar, you’re absolutely right, even on Discworld they have their Opera Phantom problems!
So if you can help with the helmets please leave your details with Mark Allinson at the Thameside who will pass them onto the two hapless guards and they’ll call you back.
You can see ‘Maskerade’ at the Thameside from 14th to 16th October so call the box office and get your tickets now at £8 for adults and £6 concessions.
