Firefighters were called to a chip pan on fire in West Road, South Ockendon. A 63 year-old woman suffered from burns and smoke inhalation. Fire crews administered first aid to the casualty.
Crews ventilated the property free of smoke using a high pressure fan. The incident was dealt with by 13:53hrs. The woman was placed in the care of the ambulance service.
