Gable Hall School U13 Girls indoor cricket team reached the Essex Cup finals day at the Ford County Ground at Chelmsford on Monday 14th February.
Having convincingly won their group beating Hall Mead, Davenant and Oaks Park, Gable Hall travelled to the county ground to play in the county finals against Shenfield and Honywood Schools.
Gable Hall managed to beat Shenfield off the final ball of the match but lost to Honywood by 4 runs. Honywood were eventual champions but all 3 matches were closely fought by the teams competing. Gable Hall finished in runners-up position.
Mr Leslie from Gable Hall said: ‘For the girls to come second in the county is an amazing achievement as up until this year the girls have had very little cricket experience and were competing and beating some experienced county players. They should be very proud of their success and we hope to go one step further next year’.
