Metal thefts land men in court

A man has been charged in connection with an attempted theft of metal from a building in Lenthall Avenue, Grays. It is alleged that at around 1am on Wednesday, April 13, suspects attempted to steal an estimated £300 worth of lead flashing.

An 18-year-old man from Grays has been charged with one count of attempted theft and one count of criminal damage. He has been released on conditional bail prior to his court appearance at Basildon Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 21. A 19-year-old man, also from Grays was given a police caution for theft.
