Diana Hale (Labour) 877
Jo Morris (Conservative) 523
Clive Broad (United Kingdom Independence Party) 475
Claire Jones (Liberal Democrat) 68
Despite not enjoying the greatest of health, Diana Hale enjoyed a comfortable victory in Stifford Clays. There is no doubt that she will continue to be a champion of the local issues. We do wonder that if Labour do form the new administration, if perhaps her colleague Angie Gaywood should take over her portfolio, with Diana acting as a guide and advisor.
How on earth the Conservatives let a seat that has been blue with Maureen Pearce and Leo Milan-Vega recently slip to lose by 354 votes. Their candidate was too busy to campaign, too busy to be interviewed and too busy to attend the vote?
As for Clive Broad. Great businessman, great rotarian but he needs to have a long hard think now. There is a certain irony in that the head of Thurrock UKIP, who so desperately wants to get out of Europe, goes on holiday for the last two weeks of the most important campaign for UKIP to……….Europe.
