Hebbs head and shoulders above opposition in Stanford

Stanford-Le-Hope West

Shane Hebb (Conservative) 720
Gemma Robbins (Labour) 653
Stuart St.Clair-Haslam (United Kingdom Independence Party) 374
Chris Greenaway (Liberal Democrat) 73

Majority: 67

Turnout: 39%

When we interviewed Shane Hebb last year, we were immediately grabbed by his maturity and level headedness. The voter clearly agrees as Shane won a keenly contested battle.

It was a very exciting contest and came down to the wire. It is a very busy ward and Shane will have a challenging caseload.

Young Gemma should also be proud of herself. Gemma was also an impressive candidate and interviewed well. We do wonder, and this is no fault of her own, if people may have seen her as a wee lassie. Not a lot she can do about that. She polled 250 more votes for Labour than when this seat was up in 2007.

If Gemma came across as childrens TV presenter then we also feel that there may be a future career for the UKIP candidate should Mr Tumble ever decide to retire.
