Robbery at South Ockendon bakery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at Greggs, Derwent Parade, South Ockendon.

Between 9am and 9.20am on Wednesday, June 29, a suspect entered via a rear door, pushed one of the employees, a woman in her 40s, and demanded money. He then made off with a four-figure sum of cash.

Investigating officer, Dc Paul O’Callaghan, said: “We believe the suspect was using a light-coloured saloon-type vehicle, which was seen parked in Deveron Gardens an hour before the robbery, so if you saw this, or saw a man acting suspiciously before or after the incident, you could help us catch who did this, so we need to speak to you. The woman was thankfully uninjured but this would have really shaken her up.”

The suspect was a man, wearing black clothing, a balaclava and was carrying a grey holdall.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dc Paul O’Callaghan at the Thurrock CID target team on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
