Detectives investigating the death of a man whose body was found beside a main road near Tilbury have appealed for information from the public.
A passing driver discovered the body beside the A1089 Dock Approach Road, Chadwell St Mary at about 1.15am today, Thursday, August 4, 2011.
The man was later identified as a 25-year-old from the Chadwell St Mary area. He was white, 5ft 7in tall and was wearing white and blue Umbro shorts and a blue hoody with red and white lettering.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained and extensive police enquiries are being led by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. A post mortem examination was due to be carried out this afternoon.
The body was found at the side of the northbound carriageway of Dock Approach Road near to the Wood View bridge.
Detectives want to hear from any witnesses or anyone who saw the man walking along Dock Approach Road or Wood View (B149) in the early hours or any suspicious activity on either road in the vicinity of the bridge.
