THE Thurrock branch of U3A held its monthly meeting at the Civic Hall in Blackshots.
Chairman Maggie Whitbread announced that the next meeting, on Thursday August 31, will be a party to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the founding of the branch. It will start at the later time of 11am.
Members are asked to bring refreshments on a plate, with members with surnames starting with letters from A to P providing savoury snacks and the remainder bringing sweet stuff.
Maggie went on to say she had contacted over half of the membership and asked for their opinion of the activities the branch held for them. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
She went on to report the bread-making group was a great success and a new session will be starting shortly.
The local history group is scheduled to visit Colchester Castle and the gardening group is to visit the garden at Great Compton.
There is to be a new group to play the numbers game Rummicub.
Peter Woodcock announced the next birdwatching meeting will be at the Hanningfield reservoir.
The speaker was Linda Scoles, talking on Journey to British Citizenship.
