Grays Convent in “Crisis” as they slip down the leagues

FOR MANY years, Grays Convent stood at the top of the league of Thurrock schools. Five years ago, they led the way and got the results that a head like Chris Tomlinson at Chafford was one day hoping to get.

That is why it has come to a shock to so many in education that there is now an alarming 28% gap in attainment.

Grays Convent have slipped from first place in 2008, second in 2009, third in 2010 and now the school has slumped to fifth in 2011.

Todays result saw them achieve 66% for 5 GCSE’s at A* to C inc English and Maths.

The school was recently informed by Ofsted that its high standard of performance means that it may not be inspected for some time.

Nobody from the school was available for comment at the time of publication.
