POLICE are issuing a warning to people not to throw objects at passing cars after a VW Beetle had an object thrown at its windscreen whilst travelling on the M25.
At 3.55pm on Sunday, August 21, suspects threw an object from the Belhus Park access bridge, which can be accessed from Gatehope Drive, South Ockendon, which crosses the M25. It hit the car travelling on the motorway, causing £90 damage.
Insp Marc Jordan, who is in charge of neighbourhood policing in the area, said: “I cannot believe the stupidity of those that did this; this could cause a nasty accident on one of the busiest motorways in the country, which would not only inconvenience people using the road, but could cost someone their life.
“This simply will not be tolerated, and we will be actively patrolling the area to ensure this is a one off incident. I want to make it clear to those involved that this type of mindless action will not be taken lightly by my officers; if you know who did this, do the right thing and tell us so this cannot happen again.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sgt Adrian Bunting at South Ockendon police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
