Student attacked and robbed in South Ockendon

POLICE in South Ockendon are appealing for witnesses to an assault and robbery of a 17-year-old male student in Tamarisk Road on October 17, which left the victim with a broken thumb and assault injuries.

Around 8.40pm, a white van stopped and a group of men jumped out and attacked the student as he ran towards Arisdale Road, demanding he hand over his bag. The victim, who was punched and hit, was later taken to hospital by his family.

The thieves stole his bag containing college work and his Blackberry mobile phone.

They are described as: one mixed race, stocky build with black hair, 6ft 3ins with stubble, wearing a dark blue jumper, who was carrying a wooden weapon; second man white, with ginger hair, wearing a grey hoodie, who actually told the first man to ‘stop’ and the third man was also white, tall and skinny build, he was wearing a blue hoodie.
