A GRAYS MAN and a man from East London were in police custody after an armed robbery in Lakeside.
Two men entered Matalan in Western Avenue, Lakeside at just before 10pm last night (Friday).
Once there, they are alleged to have threatened a 30-year-old employee with a shotgun and made off with what Essex Police describe as a five figure sum.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “A 23-year-old man from Grays and a 24-year-old man from East London were arrested in the Thurrock area.
“They are being questioned by detectives and remain in custody at Grays police station.
The whole area was cordoned off for most of the morning leaving several shops unable to open up to Christmas shoppers.
