A GRAYS MAN is due to appear in court tomorrow (Monday) alongside an East London man after having been charged with kidnap and robbery following an armed attack on a store at Lakeside Retail Park.
The robbery happened shortly before 10pm on Friday, December 2 when a member of staff from Matalans on Weston Avenue was forced to hand over a five-figure sum of cash at gunpoint.
A few hours later, 23-year-old property manager Daniel Bent from Amberley Road in Leyton and 24-year-old student Nathaniel Johnson from Godman Road in Grays were arrested in the Thurrock area and subsequently each charged with one count of robbery, one count of kidnap and one count of being in possession of an imitation firearm.
Both men have been detained in police custody prior to their appearances at Basildon Magistrates Court on Monday, December 5.
Police recovered the entire sum of money that was stolen as well as a BB gun.
The staff member, a man in his 30s and from Dartford in Kent, was uninjured.
