SAM Jeyes of Horndon on the Hill cricket club achieved the rare feat of taking a hat-trick at the youth indoor sixes at Grays School on Friday evening. Facing Belhus A in the last week of competition before the Christmas break, Jeyes had George Maidment caught by Alfie Smith with the final ball of his first over, then completed his three-in-three by picking up the wickets of Jamie Foster and Joseph Clarke with the first two deliveries of his second over, both caught by Luke Smith to close the Belhus innings for 44. Horndon eased passed this target after just 5.5 overs with Luke Smith and Aidan Mason being the undefeated batsmen on 9 and 12 respectively. For Belhus A, Mark Fogg top scored with ten runs.

The Rayleigh run-makers were Craig Smith, 10, and Alex Belcher, undefeated with 16 runs.
