LOCAL businesses are being offered the opportunity to improve their chances of winning public sector and other tenders
Increasingly businesses are being asked for evidence of their Environmental Management Policy, or EMP when tendering for contracts, especially from larger businesses and public sector organisations.
The Low Carbon Business Programme, in partnership with Thurrock Council, held a workshop on Friday (13 January) for small and medium sized businesses to help them develop an EMP and another is being held on Friday, 27 January between 9.30am and 4pm at the High House Production Park, Purfleet
Anyone interested in attending, is asked to log on to www.eventbrite.com and search for Environmental Management Plan Workshop (or click on http://thurrockenviromentalworkshop2-autohome.eventbrite.com/) to book.
A business’ EMP shows its commitment to the environment and provides a framework to develop an action plan, set objectives and targets.
In the morning session a presentation is given to explain where to begin when developing an EMP, what to include and what not to include.
In the afternoon a practical workshop session is held to develop their individual EMPs. Follow up sessions will be held with each business to help them complete their EMP.
All businesses who attended the workshop will be presented with a final EMP for their business, which can be published on their website and used when tendering for contracts.
