A FALKLANDS WAR hero, who survived the deadly attack on the Sir Galalahad in 1982, has been found dead in his flat in Grays.
Emergency services were called to the home of John Jenkins in Russett House on Falcon Avenue in Grays on Thursday February 23rd where Mr Jenkins was found.
Mr Jenkins, 55, had been suffering from ill-health for some time.
According to sources, Mr Jenkins served in the armed forces with distinction for seventeen years.
The Sir Galahad came to prominence in the Falklands war in 1982 when 50 servicemen lost their lives in an attack. Among the survivors was Simon Weston, who suffered terrible burns but went on to campaign for the rights of war veterans.
Council leader, cllr John Kent delivered a letter of condolence to the family home earlier this week.
