Saturday 2nd June was the Cambridge Eastern competition.
Thurrock had only a handful of athletes competing and all did well. James Pearson won a silver medal in the 100m with a time of 12.47s U15B. Liam Barnard and Tom Wakeling ran the U13B 75mH. Liam came in 3rd with a personal best time of 14.19 and Tom came in 4th with a time of 16.80.
Shannon Jameson came 7th in the final of the U15W 75mH with a time of 12.69 and was followed by Michael Shorthall in the 400mH Senior Mens. Michael came 1st in a time of 61.57s.
Tom Wakeling jumped a massive personal best of 3.85m in the U13B long jump winning a bronze medal and Liam Barnard came in 5th with a jump of 3.76m. Shannon Jameson also won a bronze medal with a jump of 9.12m in the U15W triple jump.
Thurrock’s second gold medal of the day came from James Pearson in the U15M shot putt with a throw of 12.62m and James won his second silver medal of the day in the U15M discus with a throw of 36.02m. Madeleine Cannell threw 6.29m in the U15W shot putt and 22.04m in the discus coming in 4th place.
Overall coach Paul Barnard was pleased with teams performance.
