Dave Stitson’s fine run of form for Horndon’s 2nd XI continued at Epping at the weekend. Stitson scored 161 not out in Horndon’s 234-3 with the runs coming in just 39 overs. That takes Stitson’s haul for the season to over 400 runs at an average of 138. Dan O’Shaughnessy made a solid 37.
Leaving themselves plenty of time to bowl out Epping opening bowlers Ben Knowles and Bradley Mason wasted no time in taking early wickets. Only Simon Lycett (47) and a brief wag from the tail provided any reistance to the Horndon bowlers. Ben Knowles finished with 5-51, Bradley Mason 3-52 and Lewis Crooks 2-9 as Epping were bowled out for 138.
Horndon’s fifth win of the season consolidates their lead at the top of the SNEL 2nd XI Division 3 with a gap of 25 points to second placed Old Parkonians. This weekend Horndon entertain Old Brentwoods at the Recreation Ground.
