Council may bid to buy the State Cinema

THURROCK COUNCIL may be the matinee idols of the borough as they consider making a bid for the State Cinema.

Council leader, John Kent has asked his officers to look into the plan.

The owners, TSP properties put the Grade 2 listed building on the market recently.

The property has been dormant for some time and many resident has been distressed to see pictures of disrepair inside.

  1. This building has been in a state of disrepair for decades so why now are TBC looking at purchasing this, something just does not sit right with this….

  2. TC did, and should, have thought about saving the State years ago.
I’ll believe it when I see it!
Anyway I thought that they didn’t have any spare money?

  3. Perhaps it could just be the time & the price is right now.
I for one hope that T.C can pull this deal off, it is such a shame to see this wonderful old building falling in to such disrepair. It would make a lovely theatre or may be even move the meseum to there.
