Police are hoping the public can identify a man who is wanted for being verbally abusive to a sales assistant in Grays.
The Co-op employee had been working at the Lodge Lane shop at midday on Tuesday, June 19 when the male customer became aggressive after being asked for identification as he was wishing to purchase cigarettes.
A few days later on Saturday, June 23, the same man recognised the woman while she walked along Jesmond Road at 5:30pm and verbally abused her again.
Investigating Officer, Pc Ashleigh Watkinson, said: “This man was extremely discourteous to this woman and in no way should she have to put up with such abuse that she feared for her safety. We would urge people to look closely at the image, especially the tattoos and call us with a name.”
