Culture at the centre of Convent’s Barcelona visit

AS part of a cultural trip, 38 year 10 and 11 from Grays Convent School spent a week in Catalonia from the 24th to the 30th October.

The girls enjoyed exploring the beautiful city of Barcelona and after visiting the still-in-construction Sagrada Familia, Joelle Cook of year 10 said:” It was really peaceful and I would like to see it again in 10 years to see how it’s improved. It was calm and made me feel holly”.

On the second day, the group went to the Roman city of Girona then visited the Dali Museum in Figures. Jenny Sawings said of the Dali Museum: “I learnt more about the surrealist movement and I enjoyed looking at the art work from different perspectives.”

Another excursion organised was to Port Aventura a Theme Park where the girls had a brilliant time. Seun Olomu in year 10 said: “It was absolutely amazing. I went on the biggest ride in Europe!”

Overall, the pupils had a fantastic time thanks to Mrs Chapman, Miss Fournier, Mr Mannering and Miss Dubois who accompanied the group.
Miss Fournier. Teacher of French and Spanish in Grays Convent said: “We wanted the pupils to enjoy all the aspects of the Spanish life and they enjoyed discovering Barcelona but also walking through the picturesque streets of Girona.”

The Languages department is now looking forward to visiting Paris with Year 9, February 2013.
