Cheshunt 3 v Tilbury 1
Att 102
A POOR Dockers performance saw them go down to mid table Cheshunt in a game that they could have conceded more.
The Dockers made one change from there Essex Senior Cup exit, with Tom Webb starting in his second spell for the club, in place of Danny Smith.
It was a bright opening from the Dockers with some good runs from Tom Wraight. Cheshunt took the lead on 7 when the ball was lost in midfield and John Megicks beat the offside trap to score under Marrable. Aiken had his effort tipped over on 11 before a number of Cheshunt attacks gave the visitors problems. On 14 Cheshunt were awarded a penalty just in side the box when Nightingill was adjudged to have fouled. Tony Burke’s effort was well blocked by James Marrable.
Cheshunt continued to create chances and on 20 Brennan ran towards goal chipped Marrable, only to be denied by a clearance on the line by Connor Mead. Burke seconds later blazed over on another one on one. On the half hour Brennan was again through and this time crashed the under side of the bar and away to safety.
Tilbury went in to the break fortunate to be only a goal behind. The thread of the game remained unchanged in the second half and 8 minutes in Brennan was again denied by a fine Marrable save.
A minute later Cheshunt made it 2 when a shot hit the bar and Courtney White was in the right place to tap home. Before the hour Brennan had two further good efforts to increase the lead for his side. On 67 Cheshunt did increase there deserved lead, when a good through ball found David Greene who was left in space and shot in from the outside of his right boot into the net.
Emiel Aiken had an effort on 70 when he fired just passed the post before on 81 a corner from the left found Jake Pooley who headed home from a ball that went just over the line.
The remaining minutes was played at a snails pace and Cheshunt returned to winning ways.
After the game Manager Paul Vaughan said ” It was a very disappointing performance”
