Grays man stabbed and robbed in Tilbury

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a robbery in Tilbury.

The attack happened in Tilbury when a 23-year-old Grays man had been walking through a field adjacent to St Chad’s Road at 3:30pm on Saturday, December 29.

He was approached by two men who struck him in the head, causing him to fall down. While on the floor, they beat and stabbed him in both legs before stealing his mobile telephone.

Investigating Officer, Dc Ben Griffiths, said: “This is a very unusual robbery, given the venue and the circumstances. The victim has been unable to tell us where exactly he was attacked so we’re looking for witnesses who would have seen this scuffle on Saturday afternoon.”

Police had initially been contacted by staff at Basildon University Hospital after paramedics had conveyed the victim there. He is currently in a stable condition.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Grays police station on 101.
