HAVE you ever wanted to be in a video? Fancy taking part in an art project? Want to work with creative professionals to develop new skills and broaden your horizons?
In April 2013, artist Lynn MacRitchie will be filming her newest video installation, The Towers of Ilium, at Coalhouse Fort Park in East Tilbury. And she needs Thurrock residents to help her.
The Towers of Ilium is inspired by the Trojan War and local people are needed to play the role of the ‘Trojans’ in the procession which will be filmed as part of the work. This exciting project will use the landscape of Coalhouse Fort Park as a stunning backdrop to a dramatic procession reflecting the history of the site and weaving classical tales of heroes and war together with Thurrock’s past.
If you would like to find out more about the project, meet the artist and creative team and discover how you could get involved, there will be a free workshop on Saturday 2 February at the Thameside Theatre, Grays from 2pm until 6pm. To volunteer for a part as a “Trojan” no previous performing experience is necessary: just a willingness to have a go and a desire to be part of something unique and exciting.
The workshop will include some simple movement exercises for those wishing to be considered as performers. Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn. Places for the workshop are free but need to be booked. To register, please email jubilantpr1@hotmail.com.
