Breaking News: FATAL RTC M25 Junction 30 Lakeside

Update 1855 hrs

Due to fatal RTC and on-going investigation. MAY BE CLOSED BEYOND 11pm

Update: 1800 hrs

To recap:

M25 closed, queueing traffic and long delays clockwise between J29, A127 (Romford) and J30, A13 (Lakeside), because of accident investigation work. Diversion in operation – via the hollow triangle, the A127, A128 and the A13 to rejoin at J30. Congestion to J27 M11.

Queueing traffic and long delays on A13 Stanford-Le-Hope By-Pass eastbound in Orsett before Orsett Cock, because of an accident earlier on. Travel time is 55 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened. Congestion to Lakeside.

Delays on M11 northbound between J6 M25 J27 and J7, A414 (Harlow). Average speed ten mph. Travel time is 25 minutes.

Queueing traffic on A127 eastbound between Romford in Upminster and Halfway House in West Horndon. Travel time is 20 minutes.

Queueing traffic on A128 southbound between Halfway House in West Horndon and Orsett Cock in Southfields.

Delays on A13 westbound in Purfleet at Lakeside. Travel time is 15 minutes.

Delays on A13 eastbound between the A1012 junction in North Stifford and Stanford-Le-Hope turn off in Orsett. Travel time is 15 minutes.

Update 1650 hrs

East of England Ambulance Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “Sadly a patient has died at the scene of the collision. Our thoughts are with their family at this tragic time.”

Gary added; “Two patients have since been airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel with life threatening injuries. A further two adults and a child have been taken by land ambulances to Basildon Hospital for further treatment, their injuries are non life threatening.”

Update: 1645 hrs

A128 Essex – Queueing traffic on A128 southbound between Halfway House in West Horndon and Orsett Cock in Southfields.

A127 Greater London – Queueing traffic on A127 eastbound between Romford in Upminster and Halfway House in West Horndon. Travel time is 20 minutes.

A13 Essex – One lane closed on A13 Stanford-Le-Hope By-Pass eastbound in Orsett before Orsett Cock, because of a multi-vehicle accident. Congestion to Lakeside turn off.

Update: 1620 hrs: RTC now declared a fatal

Road policing officers remain at the scene of a road crash on the M25 near Aveley which has now claimed the life of a motorist.

The multi-vehicle collision happened between Junctions 29 and 30 shortly before 12:30pm on Tuesday, April 2. A section of the clockwise carriageway has been closed with traffic being diverted off and back on the motorway. This diversion is being managed by the Highways Agency.One person has been certified dead at the scene while two people have been airlifted to the Royal London Hospital after sustaining multiple injuries. They are in a serious condition.

Paramedics are treating a number of other people for less serious injuries.

Two lorry drivers have been arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They are currently en route to a police station in south Essex to be processed.

The section of carriageway is expected to remain closed for several hours, including the evening rush hour.

M25 Essex – People slowing to look at an accident on M25 anticlockwise between J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock and J30, A13 (Lakeside).

A13 Essex – One lane closed on A13 Stanford-Le-Hope By-Pass eastbound in Orsett before Orsett Cock, because of a multi-vehicle accident. Congestion to Lakeside turn off.

 

Update 15.15

Crews have released three casualties. Two air ambulances were called to the scene of this incident.

All of the casualties were left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

The M25 is closed and traffic is being funnelled off the road at Junction 27, creating a tailback and long delays, made worse by another accident in the locality.
This is the first working incident attended by the new Brentwood Retained crew. They turned out to a false alarm yesterday (April 1) soon after going on the run. Update 14.40

Further road chaos as a separate incident has occurred at the Orsett Cock
A three vehicle accident involing one person trapped. Firefighters are working to release a woman trapped following a three vehicle RTC. Crews are using two sets of cutting equipment to release the woman.

1350 hrs
Motorists are being advised to avoid the M25 near Lakeside following a serious road crash near Aveley.The multi-vehicle collision happened shortly before 12:30pm on Tuesday, April 2. The clockwise carriageway has been closed at Junction 30 with traffic being diverted off the motorway. Several lorries and cars are involved and their occupants are being treated by paramedics who are also assessing the extent of their injuries.The motorway is expected to remain closed for several hours, including the evening rush hour.

1340 hrs

THE East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) are currently at the scene of a serious RTC involving multiple vehicles including HGVs following several 999 calls at 12.27pm.

EEAST spokesman Gary Sanderson said; “At present we have two ambulances, a duty officer, the Trusts hazardous area response team (HART), the Essex and Herts Air ambulance teams at the scene treating several casualties. Due to this, the Kent Air Ambulance has also been called upon to assist at the scene.”

Gary added: “Can I ask anyone thinking of travelling in this area to think about taking an alternative route as both carriageways have been closed.”
