SIX
young people successfully graduated after a year’s apprenticeship with the environment team at Thurrock Council.
On 18 June last year, 12 apprentices started the council’s Nordic Pioneer-sponsored scheme which introduced them to a wide variety of work experiences with time spent working in cemeteries, grounds maintenance, horticulture, highways, play, parks and sports and street cleansing.
Half completed the course and all six will be staying with the council’s grounds maintenance team as agency employees helping keep the borough clean and green.
Cllr Victoria Holloway, portfolio holder for the environment said ‘We are very proud of all six of the apprentices, their dedication and hardwork has shone through over the past year and we hope that this years intake will be as successful.
