All change at the top for Thurrock Scouts

IT IS all change in Thurrock Scouts as they say farewell to their District Commissioner and welcome his successor to the role.

After a successful eight years as the District Commissioner for Thurrock, Iain Rider stepped down from his role at the District AGM. Iain performed the challenging and sometimes stressful role with great enthusiasm and passion. On behalf of the District we would like to thank Iain for his hard work over the past eight years and wish him the best of luck in his future Scouting endeavours.

Due to Iain’s resignation, a search has been taking place to find a new DC to lead Thurrock to greater success and to provide more opportunities for the young people of Thurrock.

We are happy to announce that Graham Monk has been appointed Thurrock’s new District Commissioner with immediate effect. Graham enters the role with over 38 years of scouting experience behind him, most recently being Thurrock’s Deputy DC and GSL of Orsett and Bulphan.

He has also led international expeditions to Canada, USA, Australia, Germany and Switzerland for Thurrock and led the Essex Contingent for the 1995 World Scout Jamboree in the Netherlands.

We wish Graham the best of luck in his role and hope he leads Thurrock to new and more exciting heights.

We would also like to thank Heather Butcher who has been acting District Commissioner for Thurrock while the selection process was taking place.
