Football: Thurrock far from Casual in Trophy

FA Trophy Preliminary Round

Thurrock 2 v 0 Corinthian Casuals

Bill Robinson reports from Ship Lane…….

A GOAL in each half was enough to see Thurrock through to the next round in an uninspiring match that gave very little for the fans to cheer.

Both goalkeepers had little to do throughout the game but Thurrock were the better side and deserved the win.

Just when it looked like both side where heading for half time all square David Knight started a move sending the ball out wide for Luke Stanley to collect, as he cut back Stanley set over a long far post cross and found David

Knight waiting to side foot home off the post from close range.

The second half followed a similar format and eventually Thurrock sealed the win late on in the 83rd minute when Loui Hazlewood broke away down the left flank cut inside a fired a fierce drive into the far corner of the net.

So Thurrock progress to the next round but will need to be more impressive next time.

Subs: Jordan Clark, Harry Matthews, Callum Ibe, Lewis Perkins, Robert Clark
