Orsett Hall Hotel has been given permission to build 22 new bedrooms as well as state of the art leisure facilities.
The expansion will see a whole new block to the rear of the Prince Charles Avenue hotel.
The decision was made at a meeting of Thurrock Council’s planning committee.
Councillors felt there was a real need for facilities and agreed it was an exceptional situation overriding greenbelt issues.
