The 17-year-old is critical in hospital following the attack on Dorset Avenue, Chelmsford, on 21 November.
A 35-year-old has been held at a police station in Essex and a 22-year-old arrested at his home in Thurrock.
Kay Phillips, 26, the partner of the 35-year-old man, and a five-month-old baby, are missing and sought by police.
Police are concerned for their welfare but have been unable to make any direct contact with her and are still making inquiries, a spokesperson said.
Miss Phillips is about 5ft 4ins (1.4m) tall, has blue eyes and has shoulder-length or long dyed blonde hair.
