Football: Another clean sheet and three points for the Blues

Ryman Premier

Grays Athletic 2 v 0 Harrow Borough

AFTER THE succession of heavy defeats in October and November, it was feared that Grays were heading in the wrong direction in the league.

Boss Ryan Kirby was questioned after releasing the popular central defender Junior Baker. But clearly, Ryan and his backroom team felt that something was wrong at the back. Kirby went for a central pairing of Phil Anderson and Ian Gayle.

Subsequently, Grays have not conceded a goal in the last four games and look very very solid.

On Saturday, Grays fought hard and fought ugly to win 2-0 against Harrow Borough to see them rise to ninth in the league, six points behind the play-offs and with a few games in hand.

The goals came from Joao Carlos in the 71st minute and an injury time winner from Craig Pope after Harrow had thrown everyone up for a corner.

Grays are back at home on Wednesday December 11th against Hendon.
