LEADING women in Thurrock met to celebrate international women’s day and to raise money for Thurrock’s rape crisis centre.
Polly Billington, Labour’s parliamentary candidate asked some of the most inspiring women in our community to come together to support South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre.
Polly said: “Our rape crisis centre in Thurrock is groundbreaking and unique. It is easy to forget that it was one of the first in the country and still leads the way in tackling violence against women and girls.
“There are new forms of abuse coming to light – women have recently escaped modern slavery here in Grays – so there is more need than ever to support SERICC. International women’s day is a perfect time to do so.”
The dinner raised over £150 for Sericc.
