Carers Week: Looking after or caring for someone?

MOST people do not see themselves as being a carer, especially if it is a member of their family they are supporting, the individual see it as their duty to look after a loved one. They need to recognize themselves as a carer and be offered support to be able to carry out this very important and valuable role.

CARIADS is a recognised service for carers appointed by Thurrock Council to provide information, advice and support to all adult family carers in Thurrock. We support all carers no matter what the age, illness or disability of the person they are caring for, also irrespective of the amount of hours support they give, be it 1 hour a week or 24hrs a day.

Carers week is an opportunity to thank the valued work that the carers registered with Cariads do, but also to reach out to those not yet known to us and offer a helping out. We have many free events activities happening during carers week for all carers.

If you are a carer or know someone who is caring please get in touch and register with Cariads. We can offer home visits, meet in the community at a venue of your choice, or a chat on the telephone. If you do not need support at the moment, please register to be part of our mailing list. This will ensure you are kept up-to-date with any events, activities and training.
