THURROCK maintained their position at the top of the Premier Division with a four-wicket wicket win against Stock at Blackshots.

In a game played in changeable conditions which reduced the match to 33 overs a side, the hosts bowled first and restricted Stock to only 125 runs. Daniel Laird impressed with figures of 4-22 from 12 overs with Rob Neal also picking up four wickets.

Small totals can be difficult to chase in poor conditions, and this proved to be the case in Thurrock’s innings. Captain Nick Henry scored a quick-fire 45 from 44 balls, but when he was dismissed with the score on 72-4, which quickly became 73-5, the hosts were in a spot of bother.

But Matt Hills (22*) and Danny Crow (23) hit a crucial 45-run partnership to swing the match back in Thurrock’s favour. Crow was bowled with the score on 118, but the runs were eventually knocked off with more than six overs to spare.
