THURROCK Council has received notice of industrial action from the Unite union which has balloted members to take industrial action.
The action will start on Thursday, 18 September, and will affect the waste collection service as follows:
Working to rule – 18 September
Two hour stoppage starting at 7am on 19 September
Working to rule – 22 September
This may result in some disruption to all three collection services and based on the information the council has, it is proposing to suspend the kitchen and garden waste (brown bin) service for a week from Friday, 19 September to Thursday, 25 September so it can focus on the residual (green/grey) and recycling (blue) bin collections
This decision and the industrial action is subject to change due to negotiations continuing, so please check the waste section of the council’s website daily for further updates as they happen.
