ONE OF the growing sports phenomena of 2014 was the popular Parkruns.
All across the country, runners assemble in parks around 9am each Saturday morning to run a marshalled 5K course (3.1 miles).
There were even hardy runners out in Christmas Day (Maldon) and New Years Day (Harlow).
Some courses are hilly (Brentwood), some have all sorts of twists and turns (Harlow) and some are fast and flat (Waltham Abbey).
Now, Thurrock is planning to have its first in the spring.
Organiser, Trevor Rawson said: "We are very close to getting the green light. It does take a lot of pre-planning and then when we will be looking for volunteers each week."
YT understands that the course could be on Orsett Heath.
